I grew up in the great State of Texas. Been around 42 all my life. Played quite abit when I was a younger adult. In 1989 I moved to North Louisiana where no one heard of 42. I taught some friends how to play and they loved it. For 11 years I have lived in South MS - no one knows how to play. It is a different day - people don't sit and enjoy games such as 42 anymore.

I'm 68 years old and learned to play 42 from my dad when I was 12. It's been a part of my life ever since. I never seem to grow tired of the game. I suppose I've drawn about every possible hand that can be drawn from perfect laydowns to numerouos hands with six trumps. My most unforgetable hand was once when it was my shuffle so I therefore waited until everyone else had drawn and left the remaining seven for me. You can imagine my shock when I turned up all seven doubles. Needless to say, being last bid, I raised whatever it was and layed them down. It was too remarkable a hand to play out. Everyone just sat with their mouth open and stared. It's never happened again. Probably never will.

I grew up in Louisiana, and my Great Aunt and Uncle would come over to our house almost every weekend and play 42 with my parents. I remember as a child hearing them really getting excited over the game, as i grew up i learned to also play. But now that i am grown and have been married over 30 years, I have not seen anyone playing 42 up here in arkansas. It came into my memory and I thought i would find a website that had the rules, to refresh my mind on how it was played. We often have a family night of playing games, and i would love to introduce my kids and grandchildren to the game, since its a part of their history. Thank for putting up the website, I am sure that many will learn from it. Have a blessed day.

Grew up in San Antonio, TX. Dad and buddies - and I - played it many, many times. I loved it and have hoped in vain for the last say, 65 years for someone to play it with me. Thanks for asking.

Hello there, I was sorting through some items of my grandads and ran across an original 42 deck with box case & instructions. I was wondering if its worth anything? I know you must have hundreds of inquiries; I wont be offended if you dont have time to answer but I'd be sure grateful if you had a second. Thanks for your time & consideration. Sincerely, Sundi =)

My grandfather was J. T. Person of Dublin, TX and I remember going there with my folks and they would play "42" at night. Not Sometime But Always. No radio or TV and by lamplight. That was about 82 yrs. ago Good memories.

I grew up in Sherman, TX. My parents, Murry & Ethelene played 42 with friends and relatives. I still play 42 when I visit some cousins in East Texas. It's fun & easier than I think bridge would be. Today would have been my daddy's 102nd birthday. I have very fond memories of him & my relatives smiling and making jokes while playing 42.
